CHAPTER PRESIDENT

My name is Lily Grace Thome, and I have the honor and privilege of serving Alpha Gam this year as Chapter President!

Coming into college, I was looking for a strong group of women who would push me to be better and  would be a soft place to land in the midst of so many new experiences. I fell in love with Alpha Gam during recruitment because I always felt encouraged and welcomed to be myself, and I left each round more confident that Alpha Gam was the community of women I wanted to spend the next four years with. Since then, this chapter has exceeded every expectation. The women in this chapter have loved me, led me, and challenged me in the pursuit of being a better friend, student, and member of the Auburn family.

The members of Alpha Gam are well-rounded. Each member shows ambition in academics, campus involvement, and service in our community. We strive to foster a community that encourages every girl to be herself. Throughout recruitment, we encourage every potential new member to do the same because there is no such thing as a typical Alpa Gam.

My favorite part of being an Alpha Gam is experiencing the blessings of the deep-rooted friendships formed in this chapter. We are a chapter where girls leave better than they came, and when they leave, they’re leaving with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. I have learned the importance of what it means to be a sister and how support, love and encouragement can be foundational principles for friendships.

Being an Alpha Gam for three years now, I have witnessed the steadfastness and strength of these friendships through many different seasons of life. On good days and bad, the members of this chapter have shown me unconditional grace, sincerity, and humility.

Alpha Gam has shaped me into the woman I am today, and I have found the greatest example of what true friendship is:  Alpha Gam. One line of our purpose is “to cherish friendships,” and I am so thankful and confident that I will be doing just that long after my time at Auburn is over.
